There’s something special about finding the right home for a showroom — particularly when the building itself has a story to tell.
When we first visited our space at The Depot in Weedon, Northamptonshire, it was completely empty. But where others might have seen four walls and an empty room, we saw the opportunity to create something different: a welcoming, inspiring space where our clients could take their time, explore our collections and experience tiles properly.
Today, that empty space has been transformed into the Concept Tiles showroom — a place where beautiful materials, considered design and personal service come together.
A location steeped in history
Our showroom sits within the historic Royal Ordnance Depot at Weedon Bec, a site with more than 200 years of history.
The Depot was authorised by an Act of Parliament in 1803 and largely constructed in the early 19th century during the Napoleonic Wars. Its inland location was deliberately chosen to provide the Board of Ordnance with a secure place to store firearms, gunpowder and other military supplies, away from more vulnerable coastal locations. Its connection to the Grand Union Canal also provided an important means of transporting those supplies.
The original complex included eight storehouses, four magazines, lodges, accommodation and its own canal basin. The site continued to evolve over the following century and remained in military use through both World Wars, before the Royal Army Ordnance Corps finally left in 1965.
Many of the impressive historic buildings remain today, giving The Depot its unmistakable character and making it a wonderfully distinctive setting for the Concept Tiles showroom.
More than a showroom
We wanted our showroom to be about much more than simply displaying tiles.
Choosing a tile from a photograph or a small sample can only tell you so much. Colour, texture, finish and the way a surface responds to light can feel completely different when you experience it in person.
That’s why a visit to Concept Tiles is a one-to-one experience.
You’ll have the opportunity to see and touch our tiles, compare different finishes and combinations, and learn more about the materials and characteristics of each collection. We can talk through your project, understand the look you’re hoping to achieve and help you narrow down the options without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Whether you arrive with a clear vision or need some inspiration to get started, the aim is the same: to help you make a confident, considered choice for your space.
